Tormek T-8 Black Special Edition Sharpening Machine

To celebrate 50 years of sharpening innovation, Tormek has released a special limited-edition T-8 sharpening machine. Stylishly designed in all black, it has all the power and precision of the original T-8 but with some added features and benefits.

It now includes a gauge for measuring and setting bevel angles, a zinc square, an edge marker, a universal support, a durable storage tray for jigs and accessories, an embroidered black machine cover and a cast-zinc anniversary badge. The 50-year warranty (5 + 45 when registered online with Tormek within 90 days of purchase) also covers commercial use.

Made in Sweden from sturdy components, the Tormek water-cooled sharpening system has a well-deserved reputation for versatility, accuracy and ease of use. Its precise jig-guided control allows even a novice to consistently yield proper edge geometry on a wide range of household and woodworking tools.

The powerful, professional-grade T-8 machine has ample torque to maintain constant speed under full load, important when grinding jointer/planer blades and high-speed steel tools, which require the user to apply greater force. Rated for continuous use, its 115V motor runs at 100 rpm and has a stainless-steel arbor to resist rust. It has ABS side panels and a substantial cast-zinc housing to dampen vibration and give the jigs rigid support. A magnet built into the removable water trough gathers metal debris for easy disposal.

The double-ended arbor comes equipped with two wheels – a 250mm dia. by 50mm wide (10" × 2") fine diamond wheel (equivalent to 600 grit) and a 220mm dia. by 50mm wide (8 5/8" × 2") composite honing wheel for deburring and polishing. Grinding on the diamond wheel followed by honing creates a toothed edge suitable for shears, cutlery, axes or utility chisels. Anti-Corrosion Concentrate is included and should be added to the water to prevent rust forming on the diamond wheel.
