Tansu Harvest Medallion

Tansu (the Japanese word for “trunk”) refers to a variety of trunks, chests, boxes and storage cabinetry popular in Japan from about 1650 to 1920. Combining the skills of the cabinetmaker, blacksmith and lacquer artist, Tansu can run the gamut from simple unadorned cabinetry to ornate chests using 100 or more pieces of hardware.

This decorative painted black "harvest" medallion is made from 0.5mm thick steel and is mounted with escutcheon pins (not included). It has a formed height of about 4mm and measures 45mm in diameter.
