Squirrel Buster Plus Bird Feeder

This is an excellent songbird feeder with the added benefit of being squirrel proof. Openings in the feeder align with ports, giving birds access to the feed inside. When a squirrel climbs onto the feeder, its weight forces a shroud down, making the feed ports inaccessible. Squirrels are foiled but not harmed in any way.

Suitable for sunflower-seed mix, the 3 quart feeder is 23" tall and has six length-adjustable perches along with a ring perch to accommodate cardinals. The weight threshold can be adjusted to keep out heavier birds.

Note: The feeder is effective against black squirrels. Immature red squirrels can sometimes gain access due to their small size.

The National Audubon Society gives these tips to help stop the spread of bird diseases such as avian flu. Clean feeders and bird baths with a solution of nine parts water to one part bleach every 2 weeks. Use multiple feeders to make it easier for birds to feed at a distance from each other. Remove feces and seed casings from below feeders regularly.
