Set of 3 Lee Valley Ornaments
From Lee Valley
Commemorating notable moments in Lee Valley’s history, these wooden ornaments are produced in Gatineau, Québec, by artist, designer and woodworker Gaétan Courchesne.
One depicts the product that started it all, a wood-burning barrel stove kit, offered by mail order in 1977. Our founder, Leonard Lee, had the iron parts cast at a local foundry, including a weighty door bearing the Lee Valley name. Hand packed by the Lee family, kits were mailed to customers across Canada, who would provide their own 45 gallon drum and assemble the stoves themselves.
The second ornament celebrates our first mail-order catalog, published in 1978, with a beautifully finished walnut tool chest shown on the cover.
The third is a tribute to our 1986/87 catalog cover, a favorite of customers and staff alike, with a new family member that Gaétan added to the scene – a child waiting for her dollhouse to be finished.
Each 1 1/2" diameter maple ball makes a charming collectible keepsake or seasonal gift.
