Seam Ripper Hardware
From Lee Valley
Size: Seam Ripper Hardware Set, Double Tip
These hardware sets allow you to build either a single-ended seam ripper or a double-ended seam ripper, invaluable tailor's tools for quickly undoing stitching. Constructed much like turned pens, the handles can be made from the turning blank material of your choice.
The single-ended version has a small tip and a pocket clip and domed finial at the other end. The double-ended version has the small tip at one end and a large tip at the other; tip choice largely depends on the thread weight and fineness of the stitching.
The tips are made of manganese steel, with a chrome finish on all decorative elements. Each tip simply press-fits into the brass tube set within the handle you turn; included retaining springs holds the shank firmly but permit easy removal, so you can turn the tip around to conceal the sharp end within the handle to carry it safely in a pocket.
Requires a standard "A" mandrel, a bushing set, an 8mm drill bit, and minimum 5/8" × 3 1/2" turning blanks, all sold separately. Because mishaps can occur during turning or assembly, we also offer brass replacement tubes.
The tips are also available separately.
