Book is in French It's the story of three goats. There is no more grass to graze where they live, so they have to cross a river to find a new meadow to feed and grow fat. A troll guards the bridge they must cross to reach these new pastures and devours those who try to cross it. The smallest goat is the first to cross the bridge. He suggests to the troll to wait for the other fatter goat to have a real feast and the troll lets him pass. The second goat moves forward to cross the bridge in turn. More cunning than the previous one, he is however spotted by the troll and suggests that he in turn wait for the third goat of a larger size to feast on. The troll also lets him pass. Finally comes the turn of the third. The troll is about to devour him but the latter is so big and so heavy that he easily gets rid of the troll with his horns and hooves. The three goats were able to eat as they pleased on the other side of the bridge and they lived happily until the end of their days. The troll still lives under the bridge but has not bothered anyone since this encounter.
