Book is in French 1929. On the death of his father, Ian Hugues returns to settle in Montreal. The young man, exiled in New York for a decade and ruined as much by the prohibition as by the financial crisis, soon inherited several commercial buildings, including a former fur warehouse in the red light district of The Main.
