Gaspésie is an immense peninsula with varied and picturesque landscapes. who does not know its famous "Rock", but also its other attractions such as the Parc de la Gaspésie, the Forillon National Park or the fossil site of Miguasha, the images of which have gone around the world. Gaspésie also has more than 700 km of beaches, bays and capes available to visitors.
The geological history of the region dates back more than 370 million years. About 10,000 years ago, the first Amerindians settled there, mainly Micmacs, those who were called the People of the Sea. Then European fishermen came, long before Jacques Cartier officially took possession. of the territory in 1534. Over the centuries, Gaspésie was transformed and became an ethnic mosaic composed of Micmacs, French, Acadians, English, Jersiais, Irish, Scottish, French Canadians, but also a whole range of newcomers who enrich the regional palette. At the start of the 21st century, its 84,000 inhabitants are scattered in a string of villages that circle its belt.
