The Fishhook Barrel Cactus is native to Southwestern United States. The common name comes from the spines, which are thick and hooked and were commonly used as fishhooks. The pulp is used to make "cactus candy". It's very sweet and sour candied in a sugar solution. Place disk in terrarium and add one teaspoon of water. Push seeds into the surface of soil.
