The Fishhook Barrel Cactus is native to Southwestern United States.
The common name comes from the spines, which are thick and hooked and were commonly used as fishhooks.
The pulp is used to make "cactus candy". It's very sweet and sour candied in a sugar solution.
Place disk in terrarium and add one teaspoon of water.
Push seeds into the surface of soil.
Completely cover the opening with a piece of tape. Remove a week after seeds sprout.
Place in an area with bright light, indirect light.
Once plants have grown, an easy way to water is to dip the container into a cup of water and allow it to fill through the hole.
Grow Fishhook Barrel Cactus in the world's smallest glass terrarium! While measuring a mere 1.5 inches, these terrariums pack a lot of punch! They have a flat surface on the bottom to prevent rolling and are so small they can be placed almost anywhere there is light. This plant will naturally bonsai based on the container they are in and can flourish for years in these most miniature of terrariums!
