E.C. Emmerich Traditional Wooden Rabbet Plane
From Lee Valley
Nothing represents tradition in woodworking like the wooden plane, with many design elements that have remained unchanged for hundreds of years.
One reason for their enduring popularity is that they are lighter than comparable steel planes and are therefore less tiring to use.
In addition to being a superb plane for rabbeting work, this plane excels at adjusting shoulders and paring tenons. It has a 268mm (10 9/16") long hornbeam body with a sliding toe that lets you adjust the mouth opening to yield precise cuts and minimize tear-out. The 30mm (1 3/16") wide double iron is set bevel-down at a 50° bed angle. Blade angle and projection are set by light hammer taps, a process that permits fine, quick adjustment.
Made in Germany by E.C. Emmerich, the manufacturer of the finest wooden planes available today.
