For maximum legibility, and in full compliance with the ISO 6425 standard that certifies dive watches, the hour and minute hands, as well as the hour indices, are coated with a luminous material. The date window displays black numerals on a white background. As is customary, the bezel is notched and unidirectional, though Alpina adds its own signature touch: it is made of ceramic, a material known for its extreme hardness and resistance to shocks and scratches. To ensure water resistance certified to 300 m, the caseback is screwed down — and engraved with the Seastrong motif — as is the notched crown at 3 o'clock. The AL-525 automatic movement, offering a 38-hour power reserve, is thus perfectly protected.
