Ladderback chairmaking is a 200-year-old practice passed down through generations in the mountainous Appalachian region of the United States but has slowly declined over time due to the mechanization of furniture making. Author Andrew D. Glenn set out to uncover whether any Appalachian ladderback chairmakers still existed, taking to the mountains of Tennessee, West Virginia, Kentucky and North Carolina with a camera and voice recorder in hand.
