A Timber Framer's Workshop
De Lee Valley
Offert en anglais seulement
Here is comprehensive information on this centuries-old craft. Chappell apprenticed to an old-time craftsman in Maine, where he renovated and repaired buildings erected during colonial times. He has since made timber framing his life's study.
He thoroughly covers analysis of the forces acting on a structure, joinery design (all variations of the mortise and tenon), calculating the strength of members and joints, and roof framing and truss design. Each topic is presented in a straightforward manner. Included are plans for three frames, which can be used as templates for designing more complex frames.
Black-and-white photographs and numerous line drawings show important details. First printed in 1983. Softcover, 8 1/2" x 11", 252 pages, 1998.
