ALDO - Retail In Action

Environmental awareness has always been at the heart of ALDO. From innovative materials to environmentally conscious initiatives that lower carbon emissions, they’re committed to building a more sustainable future. Because when it comes to the planet, every step counts

Net Zero By 2050

ALDO’s commitment to sustainability extends to every corner of their business. They strive to move the dial forward and influence society not only in fashion but also in their responsibility to the planet. That's why they're taking bold steps to combat climate change by reducing their carbon emissions as they strive for Net Zero by 2050.

Meaningful Collaborations

ALDO believes in helping each other within the industry to address systemic issues and achieve common goals. That is why ALDO Group is a member of the Fashion Pact, Cascale, as well as a proud signatory of the UN Fashion Industry Charter for Climate Action.

Lower-Footprint Materials

From innovative materials like plant-based corn to recycled alternatives like recycled polyurethane, ALDO is always on the lookout for better manufacturing processes and materials to craft the products you love.

Responsible Leather Sourcing

As a member of the Leather Working Group (LWG), ALDO is committed to sourcing leather in a responsible and transparent manner to ensure animal welfare. They work with other brands, retailers, tanners, manufacturers, and experts to improve the traceability and environmental performance of the leather industry. ALDO is proud to share that 100% of their leather products use LWG certified materials.

Improved Packaging

ALDO continues to improve their packaging to ensure they source more certified and post-consumer recycled materials. In 2008, they redesigned their shoebox to include a built-in handle to eliminate the need for a bag. In 2019, they stopped single-use shopping bags from their stores, saving 10 million bags annually (this represents 11,000 trees!), and decreased their packaging carbon footprint by 39%. In addition, their shoeboxes are made with at least 80% recycled fibers and are certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC).

Energy Efficient Stores

In 2013, ALDO calculated their carbon footprint and set a baseline for improvement. Since then, they have improved the energy efficiency of their stores and corporate offices by converting lighting to 100% LED technology for most of their stores, implementing Energy Management Systems (EMS) that control lighting and ventilation and sourcing renewable energy.
